We offer summer academic enrichment opportunities, school year standards-based programs, and community outreach events that engage youth in experiential education, service learning and leadership development.

Middle School or Younger

D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy Created with partners at UNCW’s Watson College of Education and New Hanover County Schools, D.C. Virgo is a year-round K-8 school uniquely designed to serve students, their families and the broader community. More on D.C. Virgo
MarineQuest MarineQuest provides academically enriching opportunities for pre-k through pre-college students to explore and discover marine science through summer, school year, and field trip programs.  More on MarineQuest
WCE Jr. Seahawk Academy This day-only program serves middle-grade students (ages 10-14) who are interested in participating in engaging, fun, hands-on activities related to STEM, health fields and general education. More on Seahawk Academy

Advise NC at UNCW Advise NC hires recent graduates to serve as college advisers in partner high schools, working with a goal to increase the number of students who enter and complete post-secondary education. More on Advise NC
CHHS iHEAL (Camp) In this free overnight camp for rising 9th graders, students explore healthcare careers and majors available in southeastern North Carolina, at UNCW and other academic institutions. More on Summer Camps
CHHS iHEAL (Seminars) Designed to offer continued interactive healthcare learning, alumni seminars are held each fall and spring semester throughout former iHEAL campers’ high school experience leading up to high school graduation. More on Seminars
Future Teacher Conference The Future Teacher Conference is an opportunity for high schools, community colleges, and home school groups to bring students with an interest in education to UNCW to feel what it is like to be a Watson College of Education student. More on the Conference
iHPSS camp Interdisciplinary Health Professions Summer Summit (iHPSS) is a free day camp for rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students in New Hanover County with interest in a career in laboratory science, medicine, social work or other health-related career. More on iHPSS
Isaac Bear Early College High School Isaac Bear Early College (IBEC) High School students participate in an accelerated high school education program that offers honors courses to prepare students for the rigor of college. More on IBEC

Precollege Mentoring Program A free two-year college preparation and mentoring initiative to identify high-achieving students from North Carolina high schools—particularly those with limited college experience—who aspire to pursue higher education at institutions like UNCW. Summer Ventures Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is a 4-week overnight, research intensive program that engages North Carolina students in their sophomore and junior year of high school in the research process. More on Summer Ventures
Upward Bound Math & Science Upward Bound Math and Science is a federally funded TRIO program designed to develop the skills and motivation needed to succeed in postsecondary education that leads to careers in math and science. More on Upward Bound
Young Writers Workshop The Young Writers Workshop (YWW) is a four-night, three-day camp that brings together up to 45 high school students to study the craft of writing on the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ campus. More on YWW
Youth Entrepreneurship Experience The Chancellor’s High School Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, also known as YEPex (Youth Entrepreneurship Program Experience), offers a year-long opportunity for high schoolers to explore their inner entrepreneurial spirit. More on YEPex
