Funding Your Research Funding Your Research

Many entities, organizations, and institutions external to UNCW offer funding for undergraduate researchers. We list some here but this is not an exhaustive list. More information about eligibility and the application process can be found in each link.

External Research Grants

Only sophomores are eligible. Deadline: late October/early November (typically aligns with deadlines for the conference)

Up to $1000 for research in the sciences and engineering. Deadlines: October 1 and March 15 (membership in Sigma Xi not required but encouraged)

Up to $1500 for undergraduate Psi Chi student members to apply towards costs of the student’s original psychology project. Deadlines: October 15, January 15, and May 1.

Up to $1500 for TriBeta members to apply towards undergraduate research projects. Deadline: mid-October (exact date for 2023 TBA)
