Nursing (BSN)

UNC Wilmington's Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates possess the knowledge, skills and attitudes to practice family-centered, professional nursing in a variety of current and emerging health care delivery systems. In addition, our program is designed to provide a foundation for graduate nursing education. Through interactions with patients — individual persons, families and communities — and other health care professionals, nursing graduates will contribute toward meeting the wide-ranging health care needs of the region, state, and the larger community.

  • The prelicensure option has a competitive secondary application process after students are admitted for UNCW. For more information please see the Admissions tab under Explore More below or .
  • Ä¢¹½´«Ã½'s three-year    average (2022,2023,2024) was 91.55%. 
  • In addition to the  Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS) program, the School of Nursing offers numerous merit and need-based scholarships. 
  • Median salary of $77,600 as of 2021 and employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 6% from 2021-2031, faster than the average for all occupations ().

Our program admits students twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. The fall cohort application deadline is November 15 and the spring cohort application deadline is July 1. To find out if nursing may be a good fit for you, we invite you to explore more about the program below.

Schedule an appointment with a Student Success advisor.

Prelicensure students gain invaluable clinical practice experience both on campus through simulation labs as well as off campus at clinical sites. Students are well-prepared prior to beginning each clinical course. Cohorts will receive additional, detailed information as they progress through the program.

Student Organizations

Students are encouraged to become involved in a variety of organizations that help them develop valuable skills and empower them to become future leaders.

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½'s programs that lead to professional licensure or certification satisfy the requirements in North Carolina and prepare students to sit for applicable exams. Requirements in other states may differ.
