The 2026 Jr. Seahawk Academy summer camp is a program designed specifically for middle-graders and children (ages 10-14). The Junior Seahawk Academy is open to all children, with assistance for children that struggle in science, math, and reading. This camp empowers children from economically disadvantaged and underrepresented populations to develop interests in STEM, Health, and Education fields and prepares them for college/workforce careers through engaging, fun, hands-on activities and STEM mentoring.

This program is for students who are interested in participating in unique and creative activities related to STEM, health fields and general education. Activities this summer will include exciting technology explorations, seminars, and creative projects designed and presented by students.

The Junior Seahawk Academy has received the "Ignite the Power of STEM" grant from the Biogen Foundation. The funds will support expanded field experiences and project-based learning for middle school students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and health care.

2026 Summer Sessions

Community Commitment: This academy is centered in the community and increases our visibility in the community. Offering opportunities for faculty/staff and students to engage with and support youth. Expanding collaborations and partnerships to connect with community and globally.
National Prominence: The efforts of this academy can lead to recognition of the work with the Jr Seahawk Academy as a nationally prominent program for STEM community engagement through its supports of early engagement with STEM, Health, and Teacher Education.
World-Class Operations: WCE Junior Seahawk Academy offers activities that enhance educational opportunities for all children and promotes broader understanding of STEM career pathways and opportunities in post-secondary education that support attitudes and approaches of stewardship and sustainability.

Camp orientations are online. Session 1, June 29 at 8:00 am and Session 2, July 7 at 8:00 am. The link for the camp orientations will be provided to all registered participants using the email address provided on your registration. All parents/guardians and participants are expected to complete orientation requirements. All required camp packet forms must be submitted by June 1st or prior to the camp orientation date. Required for participation.

Junior Seahawk Academy Cancellation Policy Refund/Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is non-refundable. If a participant is asked to voluntarily withdraw or is expelled from the academy as a result of disciplinary actions, no refund will be issued.

Remembrance

We report with sadness the passing of Ms. Diane Hasling (formerly Diane Abrams), a dedicated instructor of the WCE Jr. Seahawk Academy (Summer 2008). She will be truly missed.
